It depends on the sports you want. A 30 by 60 foot pad handles a regulation pickleball court or a basketball half court with a full three-point arc. A 40 by 70 pad gives room for a wider basketball layout plus volleyball. A full tennis court with run-off needs 60 by 120 feet. Custom courts do not have to be rectangles, either. We have built L-shaped and angled courts to fit around pools and trees. Use our online court designer to try layouts, and we confirm what fits your Texas lot on the site visit.
Yes. Build My Courts works with permitting offices and HOA boards across Texas every week. For custom courts we include a color rendering from our court designer in the submission so the board can see exactly what they are approving, which cuts down on questions and delays. We prepare the site plan and drawings, submit them, and respond to comments. Bright colors, logos, and lighting are the items HOAs ask about most, and we address each one before the meeting.
Most custom courts take about 5 to 6 weeks from the first day on site to finished court. Grading, forming, and the concrete pour happen in the first week. The slab cures for about 28 days before surfacing. The final week covers acrylic surfacing, color coats, custom striping, logos, and installing hoops, nets, fencing, or lighting. Logos and multi-color layouts add a day or two because each color is masked and applied separately. Weather and permits in Texas are the main variables.
Custom courts are low maintenance. Keep the surface clean, blow off leaves and debris regularly, and rinse when dusty. Pressure wash at low pressure once or twice a year. Inspect added features (hoops, nets, fencing, lighting) each season and tighten anything loose. Address cracks or surface damage early to protect the acrylic finish and any logos. With this care, a custom court in Texas typically goes 5 to 8 years between resurfacing.
