Cost depends on court size, surface condition, how much crack repair is needed, and whether you are adding cushion, multi-sport lines, or a color change. A single pickleball court is the least expensive, a tennis court is the most, and a basketball court sits in between. All three follow the same process: pressure wash, crack repair, acrylic resurfacer, two color coats, and restriping. Courts that need drainage correction or a crack membrane cost more than a straight recoat. We give you a clear ballpark for your Austin court on the assessment call before you commit to anything.
Austin courts on the limestone side usually need only light crack repair. East-side courts on clay often need more, and we price accordingly.
A professionally resurfaced acrylic court typically lasts 4 to 8 years before it needs another coat. Pickleball courts wear faster (closer to 4 to 6 years) because every point covers the whole court, especially the kitchen. In Austin, UV exposure and clay soil movement can shorten the window, and shade, regular cleaning, and early crack repair extend it. The first sign you are due is a chalky, faded color or a slick feel underfoot. Courts that are cleaned regularly and patched early consistently outlast ones that are ignored.
Austin’s dry heat is easier on coatings than humidity, but full-sun courts fade faster. Expect the shorter end of the range without shade.
Sometimes, and we will tell you when. Standard crack filler is a surface repair. It fills the crack but does not stop the slab from moving, so if your base is shifting because of clay soil, tree roots, or drainage problems, cracks can reappear through the new coating. For moving cracks we recommend a crack membrane system that bridges the gap and flexes with the slab. We assess every Austin court before we resurface and tell you honestly whether standard repair is enough or whether a membrane is worth it.
Austin courts on limestone rarely have returning cracks. On east-side clay, a membrane is often the right call.
Most single-court resurfacing projects take 3 to 7 days on site, plus cure time between coats, depending on how much repair is needed and the weather. A basic pickleball recoat can finish in 3 days. A tennis court with crack repair and drainage correction takes closer to a week. Acrylic coatings need warm, dry days to cure, so rain can add a day or two. We give you a realistic window for your Austin court before we start and update you if the forecast changes.
Austin’s warm dry days are ideal, but coatings can cure too fast in 100-degree heat. We start early to control it.
In most cases, yes. We inspect the slab for structural cracks, movement, birdbaths, and drainage problems. If the base is sound, we repair and resurface. Concrete is the most common base in Austin. Asphalt courts can be resurfaced too, but older asphalt that has gone brittle or developed alligator cracking may need a new base. If a rebuild is the better long-term option, we will be straight with you rather than sell you a coating that will fail.
Austin’s older neighborhoods have a mix of asphalt and concrete courts. Concrete on limestone is almost always resurfaceable.
Yes. A standard tennis court fits four regulation pickleball courts, or one centered pickleball court over the tennis net line for casual play. Adding pickleball lines during a resurface costs very little extra because the crew is already striping. Pickleball lines go on in a secondary color so tennis lines stay white and the two never get confused. Portable or permanent pickleball nets can be added. This is one of the most requested upgrades we do in Austin.
Austin’s pickleball boom means many private and club tennis courts now carry pickleball lines. It is the most common resurfacing add-on here.
Keep the surface clear of leaves and debris, rinse it when it gets dirty, and avoid standing water. Fill new cracks early before water gets underneath. Skip harsh chemicals, and keep vehicles, grills, and heavy furniture off the surface. A low-pressure wash once or twice a year keeps traction consistent. We give every client in Austin a simple care guide at project closeout so the new surface reaches the long end of its lifespan.
Yes. For managed properties in Austin we provide photos, specs, a written scope, and insurance documentation so your board or facilities team has what it needs to approve the work. We can resurface multiple courts in one mobilization, which lowers the per-court cost. Resurfacing is usually classified as maintenance rather than new construction, so it typically does not require the permit process a new court would. We schedule around your community’s play calendar and keep the site clean.
Austin schools and HOAs frequently add pickleball lines during a resurface to meet resident demand without new concrete.
